WHAT WE BELIEVE
We are disciples of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, “If any want to become my disciples, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me”
Being a disciple does not mean that any of us has figured all of this out (check out the Apostle Paul at Philippians 3:12-14). A disciple is someone who is still learning what it means to follow the ways of the master. Some of us are new at this; others have been walking this path for a long time. Together we experience both the challenges and the delights of the journey.
We trust Him with our lives and our deaths because He is always faithful. He is the way,
the truth, and the life (John 14:6), the
Risen Lord who brings us life - not only in the present age but in the promise of resurrection (check out Galatians 2:20
and Romans 8:9-11).
We affirm on the basis of scripture and Christian teaching throughout the ages, that this same God is at the same time one and three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; creator, redeemer, and friend.
Believing that the Bible is the authoritative and God-inspired testimony, we submit ourselves to it, trying to understand it more deeply to live out and transform us.

Sonlight Church began in 1978
with a simple idea: to marry the
old faith to new ways of worshipping
God and being His loving presence in our world.
Sonlight exists to bring glory to God by being transformed through the
Gospel in order to bring and be good news to the city of Lynden.

Warm and welcoming, our staff

Sonlight Church began in 1978 with
a simple idea: to marry the old faith to
new ways of worshipping God and being His loving presence in our world.
For more than 35 years, Sonlight has tried
to do just that: be a community that honors the historic Christian faith, that celebrates the Lord with lively and participatory worship, and that is continuously learning how better to follow Jesus and serve in our local community, our nation, and our world.
Our church focuses on the essentials of the historic Christian faith. We know our only comfort in life and in death is that we are not our own, but belong, body and soul, to
our faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. This comfort frees us to pursue the richness
of a relationship with God.
We have deep roots in the Reformed tradition, a way of understanding our faith that emphasizes the sovereignty of God over all of life, that believes that God is active in the world, that he has promised to renew
Taking God seriously but not ourselves, we are still developing, learning, and growing in faith. Knowing God directs our paths, we seek to live out Biblical principles in our Monday-through-Saturday lives. We look to the future with eagerness because the future belongs to God.
