This is the place where you learn a little bit about how to become a member at Sonlight Church. First, don't get scared about that word "member." Plenty of people worship and affliate with us without becoming members. We say, "come and be a sponge for a while." Soak up the fellowship, the worship, and the teaching. There will come a time to make a decision to belong here at Sonlight, but we will let the Holy Spirit convict each person in His timing.
If you wish to become a member and belong to our church community of faith, the first step is baptism. If you have never been baptized and you believe that you are sinner saved by the grace and redeeming love of Jesus Christ, we would love to talk to you about your desire for baptism. If you have been baptized in your youth or long ago, we do not require another baptism for membership. We believe "once baptized - always baptized." The water of baptism is not magical, it is only a sign of God's redeeming work evident in the life of faith. We baptize infants at Sonlight Community because of the covenant of God seen through the faith of the parents.
If you are an young adult or older and have never outwardly given a testmony of your faith or publically declared your love for Jesus we invite you to make a Public Profession of Faith as an important step to belonging. The Bible says, if we fail to testify before men, our Father in heaven will not testify on our behalf. There is a 4 week class, taught by the pastor, that can prepare you for this.
If you are a member of a Bible-believing church and in good standing, we invite you to take our New Members' Class and transfer membership upon its completion.
Upon completion of this class or a new members' class, you will be introduced to the congregation.
