Who we are
Sonlight Community Christian Reformed Church began in 1978. After 30 years of ministry we continue to be a church that is committed to loving God and loving people. Our worship style is celebrative and participatory and our ministry reaches into our local community, our nation, and around the world.
The Christian Reformed denomination has its roots in the Reformation of the sixteenth century. The Christian Reformed church in North America is a group of over 900 congregations and 250,000 members. Nearly two hundred years ago, Dutch Calvinists left the Netherlands and came to the United States and Canada. Some came to escape persecution, others in the hope of finding a better life. The CRC was born from these believers.
We believe and confess the three ecumenical creeds: the Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. We also teach through the Reformed Confessions of the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort.
We are a family-centered church with ministry for all ages. The Word of God is
preached for 25- 30 minutes and is central to our worship, and we believe that all of life is governed by faith and each Christian has gifts to serve as prophets, priests, and kings, in the Kingdom of God both now and not yet.
