Jim Huleatt Director of Youth Activities
Born
In St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, September 9, 1963
Grew Up
My earliest memories are of sleeping in a crib at the age of five years old. My dad and mom purchased an old, two-bedroom home with seven acres on the Wiser Lake Road. While my dad worked hard at building us a new home next door we made do with all five children sharing one bedroom, which was no larger than my current office.
How God Found Me
I grew up in a Christian home and attended Second CRC. I gave my life to the Lord at a young age but made some choices during adolescence that created some distance in my relationship with God. At the age of 19, while watching the 700 Club on television, at 11:00 at night, God reached down and touched my heart. I retrieved our family Bible from on top of the refrigerator and read James 1:22-25. I've never been the same since that day!
Role on Sonlight Staff
I have been serving at Sonlight for the past 18 years. The first two years my wife and I volunteered under Pastor Ken's leadership. I then went to a part-time position for two years and have now been full time for 14 years. My title is Director of Youth Ministries, with the majority of my time and energy being spent with sixth through twelfth grade students.
Family
Over half of my life has been spent with my wonderful wife Stacy! We dated for three years and have been married now for 18 years. I have an eleven year old son named Brennan James who loves to hunt, fish, and play baseball. My daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, is eight years old. She enjoys the outdoors, ballet, and acting.
Interests
My interests include coaching youth sports, skiing, snow boarding, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, hacking away on the golf course, yard work, etc.
Vision For Sonlight
For each person in our congregation to have the heartset and mindset of Christ. Then for each of us to share His love in practical ways, with our neighbors, co-workers, classmates, and friends.
Something Special
I am very "home grown" and well rooted in this community. Thirty-seven of my forty-one years of life on this planet have been spent living on the Wiser Lake Road. Through athletics God used my parents, coaches, successes and failures to develop my character. I was 4 foot 11 inches tall and under 100 pounds when I entered high school and grew to be a towering 5 foot 6 inches tall and a beefy 125 pounds as a senior.
